Siddham is a remarkable script, a wanderer or perhaps a pilgrim. It was born in India and migrated east with the spread of Buddhism, ending up in Japan. Meanwhile the linguistic route behind it changed, closed, dried up, leaving Siddham like a tree planted in foreign but hospitable soil. It is actively used on grave markers and as a medium for meditation in Shingon Buddhism, which sees every syllable as having its own sacred meaning and purpose. In pau amarillo.
