Art History: Rococo to Impressionism

About the Course

Would you like to go to a gallery and understand the artworks? If so, join this class. This course is aimed at anyone who would like to know more about European painting between 1715 and 1886. Lisa will introduce the main art movements of this period — including the Romantics, the Pre-Raphaelites and Impressionism — and study selected artists each week, including Monet, Millet, Turner, Morisot and Frederick, so that students can gain an insight into how the periods linked together, and why these artists and their works were so important during this era. What you'll do You'll learn through a series of PowerPoint presentations, worksheets, video clips and great discussions. No formal exams. This course is just for fun. Who it's for Open to beginners and those with some experience. No prior knowledge of Art history is needed. This is a good fit if you: - What to learn more about artists and their work - You like visiting galleries, but want to know more - You love meeting and talking with others about art - You are looking for a course that will inspire you National Gallery trip ​There will be a class trip to the National Gallery in London to see the Renoir in Love exhibition on Wednesday 25 November 2026.
