SATURDAY 20 JUNE, 10:00 AM

THE WORKSHOP
Spectacular stained glass with
Lisa Fretwell
Hosted at Sol Creative Foundry

Get to Know Us
Have you ever wondered how glass is made and put together? Here is your chance to try a unique glass technique called ‘copperfoil,’ invented by Louis Comfort Tiffany which revolutionised the way that glass was
made and put together.
Small scale, delicate pieces can be made using this method. You will need a steady hand and lots of patience to learn this technique, but the results will be well worth the effort! You will create a unique and beautiful stained-glass panel using clear textured glass and splashes of colour.
What you’ll do
During the first part of the course, we will concentrate upon working out suitable designs and a colour scheme for this project so that you will understand how to design your own piece in the future. The following will be studied during this workshop:

Lisa
Having taken an arts degree, and a Master’s in art history, I currently teach Art
History, stained glass, drawing and felt making classes in Cambridgeshire.
Previously, I have exhibited my work in New York, had a touring exhibition
around the UK, and exhibited in Gallery and non-Gallery venues in Hertfordshire,
Leicester, London and Northamptonshire. In recent years, I have showcased my
work in the Cambridge Open Studios events with Cambridge Art Makers in
Linton. I have recently exhibited a few original penguin illustrations with
Art@One in Hemingford Grey.
I was involved in the publishing of a book called ‘Antarctic Atlas,’ in 2020 which
includes my hand drawn illustrations. I sold some original illustrations with
Bonham's Auctioneer's from our book, Antarctic Atlas, at St. Bride's Foundation,
London in June 2023. The new paperback copy will be available to buy as of
September 3 2026.
I have illustrated and edited a new book entitled, 'The Penguin book of penguins' to celebrate the 90th Anniversary of Penguin books, and everything penguin!
Prints and original illustrations are now available to buy.
