About The Event

Inspired by Kirstie Macleod's long-standing connection with women from nomadic Lambani communities in Karnataka, South India, this workshop introduces participants to one of the most vibrant embroidery traditions featured on The Red Dress.

What you'll be doing You’ll be guided through a selection of traditional decorative stitches, participants will explore the colours, textures and embellishment techniques that characterise Lambani embroidery, including the iconic Shisha (mirror work). Rich in symbolism and creativity, this beautiful embroidery tradition reflects the skill, resilience and artistic heritage of the Lambani women who contributed to The Red Dress. Who is it for Suitable for all ages and abilities, this workshop encourages creativity, and personal expression. The focus is not on technical perfection, but on the joy of making, exploring colour and stitch.
